This week I had the pleasure of being a guest on the first ever episode of a new interior design podcast called The Design Lounge. The Design Lounge is the creation of Anita Brown, a professional 3D visualiser with a background in Interior Design who founded and runs The Sketchup Hub.
I first came across The Sketchup Hub via Pinterest a while back when I was searching for ways to breathe new life into my interior presentations and drawings and to improve the overall standard of my Sketchup rendering skills (Sketchup is a popular design software favoured by interior designers). Anita's drawings immediately stood out amongst the sea of boxy, boring Sketchup drawings out there, hers were characterful and had depth and even looked hand-rendered. I immediately signed up to take Anita's bundle course and haven't looked back since. The skills I learnt are now a firm part of my design presentation process and the community Anita has built around the services she provides has been a great source of inspiration for me. SO when Anita put a call out for potential guests for her new podcast, The Design Lounge, I jumped at the chance to be involved.
The Design Lounge is a brand new podcast where design professionals have a relaxed chinwag about the industry in general with various themes for each episode. The subject for the first episode was 'The Falling Standards in the Interior Design Industry' so it was pretty controversial stuff and is well worth a watch! I sat down to ZOOM chat with Anita along with fellow designers Kivia Stocco and Nadia Reid and we had a go at putting the interior design world to rights. It was a great chance to chat about the industry with likeminded ladies and the discussion raised some important issues and some real food-for-thought. Be sure to check it out here and leave a comment to let us know what you think.
